Close Planted Yarra Valley Pinot Noir
Wine
Mayer Close Planted Yarra Valley Pinot Noir comes from a small patch of densely planted vines on the Bloody Hill Vineyard. Just 75 centimetres separates each vine.
All the grapes are hand harvested. Some batches undergo whole bunch fermentation while others are entirely destemmed, remaining separate until after maturation. Both ferments take place in open vats and use natural yeasts.
After 12 months of ageing in French oak, the wine is blended to tank. The proportion of whole bunch and destemmed parcels varies from year to year. Bottling occurs without fining or filtration.
Light red, Mayer Close Planted Yarra Valley Pinot Noir has a distinctive earthiness with bright red fruits, cool spice and a fresh finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
